Origins of Tea

The very first discovery of tea took place nearly three thousand years BC in China.

 

It is said that the first to discover and actually try a tea infusion was an Emperor and herbalist, Shen Nung, who sat under a tree resting while a servant boiled water, and leaves fell from the tree above landing in the boiling pot.

 

After witnessing an infusion take place the Emperor decided to try the resulting brew; and here consumed was the very first cup of tea, or so the story goes. Now brewing tea in China is a very ceremonial, affair.  Take a look at short video clip below.
